the bastard child of darkness and light
emerged atop a mountain peak
palms upturned,
reaching towards the sky of her conception.
with stars welling up in the corners of her eyes,
this distant sister of spiraling constellations
turned inside out pandora's box
and flung remnants of its contents onto the rocks below.
from her lips spilled a prayer,
spoken in ancient tongues,
that translated loosely into
'help me for i have fallen'
and with eyes to the skies she completed
the ancient ritual
of 3 plus 4
corners she called
3rd eye open, casting a circle of protection
in which she laid down to rest.

darkness blanketed the sleeping child
and throught the night
the moon accompanied her on a vision quest
straddling the canyons
she let its silent echoes
penetrate her insides
and made love hungrily to the knowledge
which rested at its depths
she awoke, drenched
in the nocturnal emissions of insecurity
that bled from her pores
while she slept.

eyes open finally
and skin embracing the warmth of the rising sun
traversing a trail of triumphant tears
she traveled
down the mountain side
found hope lying,
bruised but not broken,
on the rocks.
with trembling hands
she picked it up,
tucked it in her back pocket
and began a new journey, reborn.
