Habitual liar.
This heart
has a tendency for vagrancy.
A negligent resident,
locked in a tenement of lies.
I want to
rip out the left ventricle…
to make it a..l....l
right.
Silence the pumping sounds of
lub-dub
lub-dub
love-doub-
-les your pleasure, triples your pain.

I
remain
a study in bifurcation.
mentally split between
seeking affection
and
embracing your aloofness.
Sick of this
myth of sisyphus.
back too weak to
carry the rock up the hill
again.
I'm
sick of pretending and broken from bending
spending a lifetime on my knees
bowing to
emotions that leave me dizzy.
I want to be empty.
Because I can't handle being full.

Here.
Take this heart, I
don't want it anymore.
Take this mind, I
forgot how to use it.
Why must my brain be so right? I
wish it possessed the logic of the left side.
Then maybe I wouldn't play
victim to false reality…
…looks like freedom, feels like death.
I guess
it's somewhere in between...
The dream
is over.
Rewind the game to the beginning.
The choosing of sides has begun

life takes its' cues from nature.
impending clouds of doom hover on the horizon
holding latent in their molecules
a storm capable of destruction.
inner demons suspended in raindrops
await their chance to fall
and when the rain comes,
it bleeds slow at first.
barely a trickle to trick you out of evacuation.
and then the deluge.
sky splits and tears flood from its wound.
downed powerlines prompt blackout of the mind.
streets are empty and darkness is endured alone.
howling winds converse with voices in the head
and a decision is met.
morning.
the sky after it rains is always clear and serene.

hurricane season comes once a year
next time i will not be afraid.

she sings a hymn of change
while dancing 'round death and decay
as she moves through the streets of her homeland
elegant, despite the blood and mortar clinging to her dress
and finding possibilities of peace exhasuted
as she rounds each corner,
she upturns palms towards the clouds above
and prays for the salvation of her people
we watch her with fascination on the nightly news
captured on video, broadcasted live from the middle east

-

I compose this requiem for love
Scribed in shades of indigo onto the pages of time
With each word mourning the loss of decadent emotion
With each step, trampling orchid dreams of eternal bliss
No longer will I boutonniere my heart
to those speaking empty words of kindness
Trepidation will no longer suffice as a defense
Instead I shall vanquish temptation with blindness
For when I refuse to cotton to loves' cunning allure
I will cease to acquiese to its' seraphic guile.
