a wilted marionette
head bowed
arms extended
wrists
bending hands downwards at 90 degree angles
blood-red lipstick
on a black and white checkered floor.
dancing.

a broken cinderella
in a tattered ballgown
rusty dagger at the waist
to carve tears
from the corners of glassy eyes
flight of the bumble bee
played in fast forward
while calloused feet
keep the tempo.
dancing.

a girl
jumping into and out of skin
reflections in the mirror
like fractured promises
of what never was
and what shall come to pass
fist to glass
the lone act of defiance
weak hands can provide
when fairy tales are shattered
and she is left alone.
remembering.
